Over the next couple of weeks as we prepare for the start of the new domestic European league seasons amid tales of match fixing conspiracies and underhand transfer dealings, I thought we could all do with a telling reminder about what football is really about: the fans.
Maybe the big clubs and top players have forgotten just why they are out on that pitch in the first place but it’s the fans who live every kick of the ball and make every tackle, all day, every day and really know the meaning of loyalty in football.
