Euro 2008 Without England

by Jyle on December 7th, 2007

euro2008 The UEFA Euro 2008 will have to continue on without England this season. The national team was eliminated from the qualifying rounds. The British loss wouldn’t have been so bad if the coach had made wiser decisions (do I sense a scandal?). Well with other great national team still in the running Euro 2008 may not be half bad.

The elimination of England from the European Championship’s will no doubt be a loss to football -after all they are the Country which
invented the game - but it could well act as a blessing in disguise for the National game.
Under Sven Goran Eriksson English fans felt that the team was underachieving, now perhaps with this set-back the Country can begin to realise that there are serious problems not only within the National set-up but in the game itself in England which need addressing.

It is easy to say it will help our game in the long run but that remains to be seen? The only positive thing is McClaren is now out of the job he should never have been given in the first place! However think of the billions the country will lose out on and a boring summer for the majority of football-loving people. Personally I would have preferred to have taken our chances on the future and had England playing in Euro 2008.

Fair point, I think I am correct in saying though that if England had gone through to next years finals there would have been even lesser chance of any kind of inquiry at the top of the game. Although having said that it does not appear that there is any kind of criticising occurring at the moment.
I think we all would have liked to have seen England turning out at next years games but hopefully Capello will get the job - and lets face he’s the candidate - and turn or fortunes around.

Fabio Capello is the new man at the helm! However by the shape of it he is aiming to bring in a backroom team full of Italians. As much as I am happy to see a ‘proven’ world class coach given the job I wonder how his appointment will help our game in the long-term? Surely the FA need to insist on having some potential future ‘English’ coach in the backroom to take over the reins! I know that did not work with McClaren but if at first you don’t succeed….you know the rest!

Tell you what Hans from what I heard Fabio Capello is not far off him when it comes to cracking the whip in the dressing room! It is excatly what the players need as well some fire in their bellies after some of the limp performances I have witnessed in recent years.

As long as Sven Goran Eriksson there, good for the smaller teams to have their feet on EUROs. He has his own agenda to handle and down play the players. Old head of hierarchy.
    God Bless England Fans

Opps, forgot to tell you that… We had a guy called Greg Chapell, who can demoralise recordholding players and scrap a team.
again God Bless Eric and is agenda.

opps one more…. after removing the Chapell the team did 100 times better under a captain without a coach… Try it out, they have nothing else to loose now.
