The first season of Football Hurts looks at the no-frills pain and passion of grassroots football focusing on every fan’s favourite second club: A.F.C Wimbledon, and their quest to fulfil their destiny to once again regain their place at the summit of British football. Danny Kelly, founder of Football 365, describes the A.F.C’s journey as “The greatest Football story in British history”.
As well as all the fast-paced match footage from Wimbledon A.F.C’s men’s and women’s teams, Football Hurts looks behind-the-scenes and accesses all areas. Each week the cameras are turned on the Club’s important faces
including First Team Coach Simon Bassey, Manager Terry Brown, Commercial Director Ivor Heller, Star Player Marcus Gayle and even the devoted Wombles fans themselves. From match to match, we look at how A.F.C Wimbledon supporters re-claimed local football and captured the imagination of football enthusiasts everywhere. Football Hurts will reveal what drives real football with blood, sweat and cheers… on the pitch, in the boardroom, and on the terraces.
In addition to following the team’s weekly trials and tribulations, Football Hurts will talk to key pundits and sports journalists as well as footballing legends such as Paul Gascoigne and Dennis Wise and look for answers to the question on everyone’s lips… why does football hurt so much?
