Iraq Banned From International Soccer
Iraq may be banned by FIFA, from playing soccer internationally.
The national football team or Iraq may not be able to participate in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Beijing and the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The judgement came today after the Iraqi government refused to relieve the ban they had placed on the Iraq Football Association. FIFA rules are clear that world football organizations must be free and independent from their respective governments. Soccer is about national pride not political agendas. The Iraq government have until May 29 to reverse their decision on the ban. If they fail to comply Iraq will not be represented in the World Cup and the Olympics.
Iraq are currently the Asian Football Champions.
