Just To Get In The World Cup Mood - Ten Great World Cup Goals
Some great goals from World Cups past in this link from the propunter blog which have brought back some memories of watching the competition as I grew up.
Maradona’s goal against England in 1986 rightly comes first in this particular top ten (no, not the Hand of God one!) and with some fine skill from Roberto Baggio, Pele and Dennis Bergkamp amongst others it might just make you yearn a little bit more for the real thing this summer once all of the money chasing in the domestic leagues is done.
One goal that hasn’t made this particular list is Josimar’s goal for Brazil against Northern Ireland in 1986 on Pat Jennings’ 41st birthday and his (then) world record winning 119th appearance in international football. Fantastic goal even if it was against my country and still etched in my mind since I seen it as a 7 year old way back then. Panini sticker collections, Maradona ruling the footballing world and Gary Lineker winning the World Cup Golden Boot with six goals. These are the things footballing memories are made of.

I’ve found a clip online of the Josimar goal I mentioned above, what a strike!
