Keane for Fiorentina?
The latest Roy Keane rumors have it that he’s either going home, to Ireland and Celtic (nothing new there) or, rather surprisingly, overseas, to Italy and Fiorentina - and that he’ll decide within the next 48 hours. Whoa.
While my initial reaction is to think that Keane’s style of play would actually fit in quite well in Italy - particularly with La Viola - I worry that any major change to the squad will disrupt what is a very, very solid team. I mean, Fiorentina lie third in Serie A; how much help do they need? Though today’s game at Roma was a bit lackluster, they seem to have learned to play together with almost instinctive smoothness - would Keane’s arrival screw things up? Eventually, I think his presence would be great for the team, but how long would it take for him to fit in? And by then, would it be too late for him to help with the push to overtake Juve?
If there’s any validity at all to this rumor, the folks at Fiorentina have got some serious thinking to do before they extend an offer.
