Leverkusen Put Price On Berbatov’s Head

by Alan on April 18th, 2006

So Rudi Voeller, one time German poodle haired international striker and now Bayer Leverkusen sporting director, has put a price of £10.7m on star striker Dimitar Berbatov’s head.

Spurs boss Martin Jol took a look in January and could go back in the summer as Mido’s petulance and bad attitude have resurfaced over the past couple of months and he now looks unlikely to be offered a long term deal at White Hart Lane.

My problem with Voeller comes from his aside that Berbatov should stay another year with Leverkusen and wait for a “top” club to come in for him. And I quote “Nothing against Tottenham, but such a player should wait a bit until he gets an offer from a top-three club”.

I’ll back Rudi up in saying that Spurs aren’t a top three club, we’re currently sitting fourth and have been for most of the season but that’s obviously not good enough for Voeller. I’ve a funny feeling the permed one might change his mind if Spurs set a couple more million on his negotiating table though.
