Liverpool - Riise out for Barcelona Trip!

by Sack the Juggler on February 20th, 2007

Apparently he’s feeling a bit below par and has a problem with his legs, he’s got a hole in one, and he has got a fairway to go before he’s better.

Of course, he reckons Bellamy is driving him mad and that he has a huge chip on his shoulder, although that might be putting it mildly.

He said he wood be feeling a bit rough in the morning, and he was looking a little green, although he’d probably feel better after a sandwedge and some tee.

with apologies to Scouse Billy - just some golfing humour - I’ll get me cart! :)

Everton fans are GREEN with envy because its part of the COURSE that Liverpool win trophies regularly whilst their way BELOW PAR neighbours win HOOK all every year.

Yeah, the FA Cup and Champions Leagues are tin cups arent they…..Its not even worth discussing football with somebody who knows very little about the game.

Trader, I fully agree mate, and its a shame that some Liverpool fans think that being able to recite their trophies is a substitute for a knowledge of the game (or maybe its just a personality substitute?) - either way, glory by association…

Is there any way we could have this site brought down? It’s pure spam. I’m not sure why I bother [making a comment], but I think it has to do with the fact that it’s quite positively the worst link I’ve ever gotten from newsnow. I’ll send a complaint…

    Oh come off it, Juggs.
    Stereotyping is lazy.
    False stereotyping is silly.

The population of Norway is far smaller than our fan base (though much bigger than yours).

But that’s because we’ve won loads and fired people’s imagination all round the globe.

Somewhere there must be a parallel universe where Everton is full of galacticos and has won a record number of trophies but it’s not the one we inhabit. ;)

“Somewhere there must be a parallel universe where Everton is full of galacticos” - I think its called 1985 :)

Anyway, Norway is full of Liverpool fans, but they’re not too bad for being that… ;)

Hey, Im a Norwegian, and I will not tolerate any cheap jokes regarding our sense of humour. Such comments are really hurtful and untrue, and Im very upset. We laugh all the time and dont take ourselves seriously at all. But I take such comments personally!

I hope you all appreciate the irony here.

I found the original post amusing, made me chuckle. If any fellow reds cant laugh of this than thats to bad.

    Please do Alonso tomrrow.

You should write to the Beeb and get them to do a series:

Everton blogger get’s crushed at away game and goes into a coma.
He wakes up a Liverpool fan in early 1985 desperate to change the course of history.
Weird things happen like people on TV talking to him.

Can he avert Heysel? Can he get Everton into Europe?

    Sound good to you, Juggler?

All gone a bit quiet Sack?

Did you see us beat Barca in the Nou Camp whilst you were losing at home to spurs (whilst trying to defend a 1-1 at HOME)

Haha, sums up the difference between the 2 clubs perfectly.

You really are just A SMALL CLUB FROM KIRKBY

Trader - good win last night, although I was surprised at how much space barca kept leaving on their far post (both sides).

When any English club is playing in Europe I want them to win, even if it is Liverpool. Of course if Liverpool lose, then its also a bonus, not because I hate them but to avoid those arrogant and classless fans who only sing when they’re winning, you know the type, like the Liverpool fans accuse Chelsea fans of being…..

Ok, fair enough….(is this Sack being objective?!)

What about your lot then? Are you happy with Moyes? Seems to be a bit of pessimism creeping in to some fans regarding Moyes’ ability to take Everton to the next level. Looking in from the outside I have seen him take Everton from relegation candidates to European challengers in a few years and cant understnad the sudden negativity towards him (albeit from a minority of fans)…Who would you get to replace him for a start?

  • Sack the Juggler
    Feb 22, 2007 at 11:40 am

Trader - most of us agree, before Moyes came we were flirting with relegation, now we are flirting with Europe, so we have moved in the right direction.

This has been achieved with little or no investment, by trying to balance the books and at a time when other clubs have also been improving, which makes his acheivments even more impressive.

Last night’s result was disappointing, but no more so than any other home defeat, …although it was to spurs….

Under him we have developed the nucleus of a good side and we are building on it, so hopefully over the next season or so we will see continued improvement.

I guess the one thing that worries most of us about him is that in order to balance the books we’ve had to really thin the squad down, so we although we are improving the quality of the squad are always down to the bare bones. So it basically means we are trying to play with a squad that is always just coming back from injury.

With a bit of luck this should see us through the rest of the season and we can look to build the squad in the summer, but having a thin squad basically means that you are taking a risk with every game we play, and Moyes seems to think that cup games are not worth that risk.

Yes we will try to win the cup games, but the players and tactics Moyes uses for cup games seem to be designed to protect our players for the league.

So its perceived view that Moyes is not a risk taker. This is probably what is needed at the moment until we can grow the squad in terms of quality AND quantity, but its still frustrating to see it on the pitch.

Having said that the lower leagues are full of clubs who were risk takers….

Does it ever bother you how ugly Moyes is?

I used to get a bit embarassed when Beardsley was depicted as football’s gargoyle.

Scouse Billy - To be fair mate, I dont think our strike force of Kuyt Bellamy Fowler and Crouch is the prettiest in the world!!!!

Sack, I have noticed that Moyes definitely doesnt view the cups as seriously as maybe he should. For a team like Everton who realistically wont win the title (same with us really) I would have thought the cups would become even more important. Liverpool havnt won the league for a long time but weve still had some great days(and nights!) winning FA Cups, League Cups and the Champs League.

I remember when we got to the then Worthington Cup Final against Birmingham. A rubbish competiton against a team outside the top flight BUT it was still a fantastic day because it was our first final for a few years and it gave the club a big lift I feel. Winning trophies is a habit and I think once you win one it can build confidence and lead to more (not always obviously).

What would you give to be going to Cardiff or Wembley with Everton this year? Surely Moyes should realise this.

Trader - I agree mate - we used to have some great days out in the past - but as I’ve said, Moyes treats cup competitions as a risk rather than a reward.

Hopefully that will change when we manage to get a decent sized squad together (which I’m hoping we will over the summer).

Hey were moving off the point here, Riise was TEE’D UP by Bellamy, good results last night.
On a personal level great to see a Bellamy and Riise PUTTING their disgreements a-side!! Ha only messin.
On a more serious level Sissoko was immense, unfortunate to see him getting injured hope he will be back soon.

    Y.N.W.A.

No but since people started calling him Gollum, I can’t look at him without laughing and feeling revulsion at the same time.

Quite weird the feelings I have watching some managers….

Seriously tho Betfair were offering good odds on a Liverpool player scoring and celebrating with a golf swing - my mate who saw it wished he had put a £10 on it now !
