Luxemburgo is Out

by footie on December 4th, 2005

LuxemburgoTo the surprise of no one, Real Madrid have fired coach Wanderley Luxemburgo. Since it’s the middle of the season, it’s unlikely that the Capello rumors will really catch fire again - it’s not as if he’s going to leave Juve just as they’re running away with Serie A.

While reserve coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro has temporarily taken charge of the team, absurdly big names are being bandied about, including Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger. I may be completely out of my mind, but the chances of Mourinho leaving a dominating team midseason seem like they’re pretty much nil, and Wenger is also extremely unlikely to make a change right now. I do believe, though, that Mourinho’s ego is big enough that he could be persuaded to take over this summer, particularly if Chelsea pick up some silverware this season - it’ll be interesting to watch all this shake out.

Next on the chopping block: Alex McLeish.
