Man Utd On Red Alert For Tevez

by Alan on August 22nd, 2006

I can just picture the scene at Old Trafford as news leaks out of Brazil that Argentinian striker Carlos Tevez is ready to leave Corinthians and continue his footballing adventure across the Atlantic in Europe.

What I can’t understand is where United would play the no-necked hitman. He’s a fantastic talent, no doubt about that, and would walk into most sides in Europe but he just reminds too much of a man United already have on their books in the £30m form of Wayne Rooney.

Great skill, strength on and off the ball that belies their height and an eye for goal that really makes them stand out from the crowd except when compared to each other. I just think they are too similar to really get the best out of both players in the same side. Maybe Rooney (or Tevez) would function better with an Adriano or a Van Nistelrooy alongside them, maybe I’ve completely misjudged the potential and flexibility each player would have but I wouldn’t be happy if I was a United fan and saw Alex Ferguson fire out the rest of the piggy bank on a player likely to cost another £30m who offers nothing different to what is already on offer at Old Trafford.

Prove me wrong Carlos, prove me wrong.
