Maybe Benitez should look to Riise to solve the riddle of the Battle of the Algarve?
Bellamy has been branded the bad boy over the recent incident in the Algarve, and while there is no excuse for him to attack a colleague, especially with a golf club, there have been some rumblings that he was provoked and goaded by Riise’s astonishing and sustained abuse earlier in the evening. Could it be that for once, Bellamy wasn’t the instigator of the unrest?
We all know that Bellamy has a reputation for kicking off, but it seems that Riise also has a reputation for being annoying, and this is not the first time that a Riise outburst has led to him being attacked by a fellow team mate

A few years ago, Riise was involved in what Norwegian newspapers at the time called the Battle of Drammen (here’s a couple of links to the incident)

According to Henning Berg who witnessed the event, things kicked off between Aston Villa’s new signing, Carew and Riise during a national team training session, and Riise just wouldn’t let it lie and just kept up a constant tirade at Carew for almost two hours.
In the end it all boiled over on the team bus, with Riise sitting in front of Carew and continually goading him, despite continued requests for him to leave it from Carew and other team members. In the end Carew stood up and landed a punch right on his jaw, and had to be pulled off him by his team mates.
Carew said at the time that he had continually asked Riise to be quite that but he wouldn’t listen and just kept on provoking him, “Riise has no respect for people” he said.

Some say he’s a decendent of Thor,
Others that he test drives cars for Top Gear.
Well you need someone to comment, Juggs

I’m a friend of a friend of Riise, and he is a trouble maker,he’s let his status at Liverpool go to his head.I hope it’s Riise that get’s booted out not Bellamy because Bellamy brings more to the team than the limited Riise.

When they arrived back at the Barringtons apartment complex, the drunkest players (Dudek, Fowler and Pennant amongst them) damaged cars, electricity boxes and even the inside of some houses, by using golf clubs!
The situation only calmed down when police arrived, during which time they had to cuff Dudek who had tried to headbutt an officer. While this was going on witnesses stared in disbelief.

Sack the Juggler, What you printed above is nothing more than lies, The police, the bar and the hotel have all said that nothing of this sort happend and it now turns out that Riise and Bellamy only had an argument and nothing more and the rest of the player are only guilty of breaking curfew.
On the Liverpool.tv website forum your story (I know you only copied it) was shown and had to be deleted by the clubs site runners and when asked why they said it was breaking the Slander and libel act and any website printing it could be hit with a lawsuit and that actions have already been taken out on a website and paper in Portugal.
Also not having a go but there is 19 other clubs in the premiership?, I say this because on the right hand side it only seems to be full of Liverpool stories, it would be nice to read more stories about other clubs, just a thought!!.

Hoop da hoop - I’m sure the story was exaggerated to some extent, and if you read through some of my responses to the previous thread, you will see where I’ve commented on the accuracy or otherwise of the various other reports on other incidents, but its interesting that the Times online quotes an eyewitness to events at the hotel - which did indicate some items did happen.
I also got a few “off the record” comments that indicate most of what was reported was over the top, although based on real events but blown out of proportion (such as “damaging electrical boxes”, which was just one overhead fluorescent tube light hit by accident as someone was jokingly practicing their golf swing).
As to why its mainly Liverpool at the moment; it tends to come and go in phases. The trouble is that Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are the top teams at the moment, so they tend to be big news.
I admit there is a Liverpool bias, but thats partly because I get a lot of stories from mates back home in Liverpool who are Liverpool fans, but also when you start writing about a certain club then people will feed you stories about it from various places across the globe.
For example, this Riise story was sent to me yesterday, along with the links from a Liverpool fan in Norway. I had to check the content (my Norwegian is crap, but I speak a little Swedish which is similar) so didn’t release it until today, which is a shame as someone else posted a similar story earlier - which probably means that it was sent out to several other people.
I know a few Norwegians (off skiing with some of them next month in Lillehammer) and they have confirmed what Carew said about Riise, that he’s a bit annoying and not well liked at home, so I thought I’d run with the story.
I do write about other teams, and will try to take a break from Liverpool for a while (although stories like this can make it difficult! :) )

Yeah, Juggs - like all the characters in Trainspotting - we’ll try to stay off the smack and take other drugs…
I’ll believe it when I see it (or don’t see it, if you see what I mean)

As a Liverpool fan it’s better to be in the headlines than not !! :D
All the fuss before the game meant more people watched us take a narrow lead over Barca back to Anfield. I had texts from Gooners on Wednesday night congratulating me on a good game, three admitted they were going to watch Chelski the week before all this kicked off.
I hadn’t heard all that about Riise so it made interesting reading….
