Mullins v Garcia - Video of the Spat
For those who commented on the Special Treatment post yesterday and maybe hadn’t seen the incident I’ve found the clip on youtube.com.
Seeing it again it does look like handbags but the fact remains that Hayden Mullins raised his hands to Luis Garcia after Garcia aimed an elbow at his back.
Both unacceptable but the worst bit is Garcia’s playacting. If I was Mullins I’d have been more likely to stick the boot in him while he rolled about the ground pretending to be hurt. What is the game coming to with Rivaldo-esque injury feigning like this?
Aren’t there any men left in the game anymore?

Ughh. I generally like Garcia, but he flopped like a fish. THAT deserves extra matches more than either the elbow or the push.

I have to wonder how these grown men aren’t embarassed to watch themselves do things like that in replays and on TV.
I’d be more than a little ashamed of myself to be honest if I’d carried on like that.

Cash is a great numbing agent for embarrassment.

Unfortunately what we believe a real man should act like is becoming a dying breed in the prem. Every club has one of them, willing to take a dive with little or no contact (some more than others as us Arsenal fans would agree ;)).
Not sure how to stop this, because you have the ‘other side of the coin’ and sometimes it may not appear much yet actually the player is in real pain, look at Cisses leg break, there was nothing in that tackle that broke his leg. This makes it too hard for officials by themselves.
OT where is the piece today about Henry setting a new record with his Football writers award (3rd time he has won it)???? ;)

Shows the red card decision to be harsh, though, not technically wrong.
Also shows Garcia rolling round like a wee girl (prat).
If the FA were not going to rescind the cads on the basis of being ‘harsh’, they would set a very dangerous precedent by lessening the punishment.. Nice try by Rafa and Alan though.

I wish! I’d gladly embarress myself for some cash. How else can you explain the popularity of reality TV and daytime talkshows?

philives: You should know that you’ll be waiting a long time for some praise for Henry while I’m editing this blog ;-)
Jonathan: Can we just make it clear that the Alan you were saying “Nice try” to was pardew and not Hylands. I get enough stick on here without making it seem like I’ve been cosying up to Rafa this week!

Alan, deep down you know you want to be involved with a real “Big Club” - admit it man, you and Rafa a firm buddies since you kissed and made up over the player poaching thing! ;)
