Ronaldo Faces Derby Chop

by Alan on March 3rd, 2006

Ronaldo in happier times for BrazilTroubled Brazilian ‘wonderkid’ (can he really be 29?) Ronaldo looks to have an early opportunity to gauge how welcome he is now at the Bernabeu after his main supporter Florentino Perez was deposed as president and it doesn’t look like good news.

Despite scoring Brazil’s winner against Russia in midweek, Ronaldo has been left out of the 18 man Real Madrid squad for the derby against Atletico Madrid and it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll be on his way in the summer.

Reports during the week from Spain have said that Madrid could cut their losses on the former World Player of the Year for around £6m and for that money there would be a queue of clubs running around the back of the Bernabeu to snap Madrid’s hand off to get him.

Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but if we could get him on the Mido diet and get Martin Jol to give him some tender loving care I’d love to see Ronaldo in a Spurs shirt for next season.

I keep telling myself stranger things have happened…
