Tevez Close To English Move

by Alan on August 26th, 2006

We’ve been over this before on The Footie when I said it was obviously Chelsea that Carlos Tevez was close to signing for but now I’m not so sure.

If I was a gambling man I’d probably put my money on the West London Russian Mob being the ones about to get hold of his signature but with Manchester United splashing cash around this summer and trying to get rid of more on Owen Hargreaves I’m not so sure.

I don’t think Arsenal have the cash unless they sell (C)ashley Cole and Jose Reyes so that should count them out and while I’d love to see him at Spurs I know it isn’t 1978 anymore and we just don’t have the pulling power to grab top class Argentinian World Cup stars.

Liverpool have more forwards than they know what to do with so I can’t see it being them either.

So Chelsea or Manchester United then? Who will it be?

Bet you didn’t have any money on West Ham! I must admit I find this difficult to understand - pleased for the hammers and all that (jammy feckers) but why pass up the opportunity for Champoins League football?

The answer might lie in the murky waters of Russian finances afterall. It is hinted that Roman is a major shareholder of the company that owns Tevez’s contract. So, having just bought Shev and Kalou, maybe Jose doesn’t feel he needs Tevez just yet, but would still like to see how he performs in the premiership (or maybe the management company want to earn money from the Premiership).

But rather than allow him to go to one of their title rivals Tevez has been restricted to a “middling” club?

What this space - any money that Tevez will have “the flu” when the Hammers are due to play Chelsea?

    My thoughts exactly (see http://stateofthegame.co.uk/2006/08/31/something-fishy-tevez-mascherano-west-ham-united/)

I might write something here about it later so keep an eye out…
