World Cup 2006 Group C Preview: Serbia & Montenegro - Players To Watch
After eight seasons in Serie A with Lazio and now Internazionale, Dejan Stankovic finds himself as one of the most experienced players in the Serbian squad as opposed to the bright young star of past Yugoslavian squads. Able to play centrally or on the left in midfield, Stankovic is a hard working, creative player with an eye for goal and will be one of the key men if Serbia & Montenegro are to progress beyond the group stages.
Noted by the press as a target for Arsenal, 6 foot 7 inch striker Nikola Zigic will be sure to cause many defences problems with his height and strength. Strong in the air and capable of finding the net, Serbia’s answer to Peter Crouch is the perfect target man for Mateja Kezman to feed off and will be another of Serbia’s main weapons as they hope to progress from the group stages.
