World Cup 2006 Group D Preview: Angola
A poor showing at the African Nation’s Cup in January has done nothing to help the confidence of the Angolan players, fans or management as they look to make a splash similar to Cameroon or Senegal at their first World Cup finals.
Having beaten regular qualifiers Nigeria to a spot at the finals, Angola have seemingly fallen apart confidence-wise and with a severe loss of form among some of their top players, they aren’t expected to make it past the group stages.
Regardless, the country, which has been torn apart by civial war and poverty over the past few decades, intends to make the most of their World Cup experience and enjoy every moment that they get to see their side in action, mainly because they don’t know if they’ll ever see them qualify again.
