World Cup Memories #2
See, I knew there was a reason I hadn’t written about my next memory, yet. I mean a reason apart from forgetfulness. On an unconscious level I was waiting for the Liverpool clip, and now that it’s out, I can proceed.
France 1998
Young Michael Owen vs. Argentina. Come on, you remember it. You know you do. The Wunderkid exploded into our consciousness earning a penalty and scoring a brilliant solo effort all inside the opening quarter of an hour. European Club football was still largely unknown to me, but those fifteen minutes turned me into a Liverpool supporter. (Macca sealed my eternal love.)
Your turn: Is there a World Cup moment, a performance, or a player who stands out in your mind and changed the way you looked at the game?
